The species here referred to Otostreptus were treated under Alloporus Porat, 1872, by Krabbe (1982). Hoffman (1987b) revalidated Doratogonus Attems, 1914, for the majority of the species treated under Alloporus by Krabbe. Doratogonus was reviewed by Hamer (2000) who excluded gilvitarsus and stylifer, here treated under Otostreptus (type species Spirostreptus stylifer), as well as 'Spirostreptus'multiannulatus, see below.
