A population of G. apuana, described as G. apuana var. levantina from Santa Margherita Ligure
does not fit in the present concept of G. apuana. The specimens were described (Verhoeff 1911, 1921) as having a colour pattern and one main stria, both fitting closer to G. ligurica.
