The order Callipodida is a relict Holarctic group which is thermophile and quite well represented in the Mediter- ranean Zone of Europe. While members of the order occur throug hout the Mediterranean Zone, with a couple of minor infiltrations northward s in France and the Carpathians, it is remarkably concentrated in the Ponto-Mediterranean part from Sloverua to Turkey. At the moment there are 53 listed species.
